Boyd Hoyland

Boyd Hoyland (played by Kyal Marsh)

Boyd is a med school student and a part time receptionist at Karl’s studio. He lives at number 32 with his dad and stepmother. He is the son of Max and the late Anna Claire he is the brother of Summer he has a step-mom Steph and is about to have a new brother. His grand parents are Bobby and Rosie Hoyland.

Boyd came to Ramsay Street with his grand mother and sister after his mother had died and his dad couldn’t take care of them so had gone off to work on the rigs. His first girlfriend was Heather but Boyd was too immature to deal with a relationship and spent most of the time playing cricket or hanging out with his best friend Daniel. Their favourite pass time was staring through the Scullys bathroom trying to get a glimpse of the girls until Harold caught them and made them have a bird watching session with him.

Boyd was younger than everyone else at Erinsborugh high as he was on an accelerated learning programme, but he started to grow up when he became close to new girl Sky. Although his maturing was halted when his dad announced his relationship with Steph and he couldn’t handle them being together and went off the rails by doing things like stealing Toadie's car and smashing it up but when she developed cancer he realised what a good person she is and supported her through it.

When Boyd finished school he started working at the gym and weight training but became obsessive with it and it led to him developing an eating disorder and taking HGH. When he started having hallucinations and fits he thought it was a side affect of the drugs but the doctors diagnosed him with schitsofrenia but when he was admitted to hospital the doctors found a life threatening brain tumour and after the operation he ended up in a coma but he survived it although it lead him to reveal to Sky that he had once kissed Serena which was the end of their relationship.

Boyd discovered how silly he had been with the drugs and gym so decided he wanted to go back to school get better grades and become a doctor. He has developed a relationship with Janae Timmins and finished school and started med school he has also been a tower of strength to his step – mom Steph after discovering that her cancer has returned.
