Isabelle Hoyland

Isabelle Hoyland (played by Natalie Bassingthwaighte)

Izzy is the co – owner of Scarlet bar with Max. She lives at number 22 with Paul and his daughter Elle. Her parents are Bobby and Rosie Hoyland, her brother is Max. She has a niece Summer and two nephews; Boyd and Charlis.

When Izzy was very young her mom put her and Max into boarding school so that she could go in search of god, now she blames everything that goes wrong on the fact that her mom neglected her. She is a very bubbly sexy and flirtatious girl who knows how to get anything that she wants, although she does truly love max and his 2 children.

Max has always been there to bail her out whenever she needed it weither it is financially or to put a roof over her head, it was Max that loaned Izzy the money to buy her share of the coffee shop when she first came to live in Ramsay street, Izzy's first encounter with a male is the affair that she had with Jack Scully although this didn't end too well and Izzy ended up dating Max's old friend Gus Cleary without realising that he was mentally unstable but when she realised just how unstable he was she moved on to local doctor Karl Kennedy who was having marriage problems. When Karl split up from his wife of nearly 30 years she didn't hesitate in doing her best to snare him, moving in with him and pretending that the baby was his, Karl believed her and proposed to her she accepted but just as she said yes she fell out of the boat they were out in and nearly drowned Karl saved her and took her to hospital but just as she was leaving she had a flash back and fell down a flight of stairs loosing the baby.

The wedding went ahead as planned but when Gus turned up at the venue as Izzy was getting ready she did a runner and left Karl at the altar she was going to leave for good until she had a meeting with Susan and decided to go back and face things after all, she and Karl sorted out their differences and decided to get back together but not to get married.

Things were going very well for Izzy until she met Darcy – Susan and Karl's nephew who was on a day release from prison and had found out her secret about the baby while working at the hospital to make amends for his crimes he tried to blackmail Izzy but when she saw no way out of the situation the had a scuffle at the top of a flight of stairs and Darcy ended up falling and being in a coma all Izzy did was plant her jewellery in his pockets trash her flat and frame him for robbery ensuring he would go back to jail and be out of their lives for a long time. Although Izzy did have a conscience and it plagued her so bad that she started sleep walking and suffering from terrible nightmares.

When Darcy woke from his coma and remembered everything that had happened he tried blackmailing her and she turned to local bad boy Paul for help to get rid of him but when Paul didn't help she paid him a large sum of money and testified that he was genuinely remorseful for what he had done and he was freed. He left town as he had promised but not before leaving a note for Susan stating that Karl wasn't the father. Susan gave her an ultimatum to tell Karl or she would so Izzy confessed but added a lie that Gus had raped her and that was the reason for her lies Karl believed her until he heard her telling Max the truth and threw her out.
After many problems like drug abuse Izzy has now sorted herself out and is living with Paul and his daughter Elle, who had a rough start to getting to know each other but now get on well although she has become more ruthless than ever before and doesn't care who she hurts or upsets even if it is her own family or neighbours.

By the start of 2006, Isabelle had settled in well with Paul and Elle, and
had even planned a holiday for all three of them to go on. Going to tell
Paul as soon as possible, Isabelle came over his unconcsious body and was
shocked. After Paul recovered and was sent home, Isabelle started to feel
insecure living around the Robinson place after Paul told her that he had
been strangled. Determined to find out who had strangled Paul, Isabelle set
to work.

It was a night when Isabelle was working at the Scarlet Bar when Isabelle
started to suspect Harold. Paul had phoned her earlier and she was way too
busy to go back home at the time, so Isabelle asked Harold if he could go
and check on Paul. Harold did, and trespassed into number 22 almost giving
Paul a heart-attack. Isabelle returned shortly afterwards and was shocked
when she saw Harold standing over a suffering Paul. Isabelle was at once
suspicious and confided her suspicions to her loyal brother Max who told her
she was being paranoid.

Isabelle, however didn't need to prove Harold guilty. Harold confessed to
Paul what he had done. Paul was shocked and told Harold to leave at once. A
triumphant Isabelle then told Paul to seek revenge on Harold.

Together, Paul and Isabelle started a restuarant by the name of Lucindas,
named after Paul's favourite daughter- Lucinda "Elle" Robinson. The
popularity on the new restuarant stole all Harold's customers from his own
cafe- The Cofee Shop, and left Harold depressed and sick of life.

While this was happening, Paul's daughter Elle was starting to get sick of
her dad's controlling attitude towards her. Elle decided to leave
Erinsborough with her boyfriend Ned to strenghten their relationship. Paul
was heartbroken and Isabelle who couldn't bare seeing Paul so sad at once
started to scheme.

Isabelle seduced Elle's boyfriend who had always had a crush on her. Ned,
who was delighted when Isabelle lied to him about having "feelings" for him,
told Isabelle that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.
Isabelle, then, desperate to get rid of Ned once and for all told Ned to go
to Sydney to audition for a musical since he was so talented. Ned told her
he wouldn't go without her, so Isabelle left lieing to Paul that she was
going to search for a holiday house.

Isabelle lied to Ned about Paul being sick on their first day in Sydney,
Isabelle told Ned she couldn't stay in Sydney with him any longer and that
she had to look after Paul. Ned left Ramsay Street and Isabelle, triumphant,
went back to mending her relationship with Paul and Elle. Isabelle and Paul
went back to destroying Harold and his cafe.

During that week Isabelle was sent an email with a video of her and Ned
sharing a passionate kiss inside her office in the Scarlet Bar. The sender
asked her if Paul had seen the video yet and Isabelle was shocked. The
sender turned out to be Lou- Harold's best friend. Lou and Harold then
blackmailed Izzy into pursuing Paul to stop messing around with them
financially. Isabelle gave in, but Paul remained mystified by why his
malicious and scheming girlifriend would feel sorry for two men who had not
only tried to mess up his life, but hers as well. Isabelle tried again but
Paul said that the answer was a definite no.

Isabelle, then desperate went to seek the advice of her brother Max. Max
told her to tell Paul and Elle the truth and hope for the best. Isabelle
did just that and Paul was disgusted and shocked and Isabelle was about to
leave until Paul changed his mind telling her that his life was dull without
her. Elle, in the other hand told Isabelle she would never forgive her and
that her dad was way better off without her.

Paul's evil son Robert soon came, pretending to be his twin- Cameron.
Robert's evil intentions are to kill Paul and Isabelle and do all kinds of
evil things to Elle and Cameron- his siblings. Robert tried to kill Isabelle
off when he left the gas on inside number 22, when Isabelle fell asleep
baby-sitting her newphew, Charlie. Max was angered by Isabelle's neglectment
towards her own nephew, even when Isabelle told him she clearly remembered
turning the gas off.

Isabelle is right now in a storyline where she torments Sky Mangel over the
loss of her boyfriend- Dylan Timmons- a previous employee of Paul
Robinson's, but Isabelle's smile will soon be wiped off her face- with
